Premier Hobby Collective’s Dungeons and Dragons campaign is an original homebrew setting where players sign up anew for each session. The first six players to sign up are the party for the next session. This means that the game continues even if players’ schedules stop them from attending. Parties will go on adventures, but individual characters also use their skills and tools to develop Knight’s Ridge. Players who reach a high enough level will group together and enter a second tier of adventures closed off to lower-level players. If you are interested, be sure to get in touch to hear when the next session is. |
On 13 June 2025, six intrepid adventurers gathered for the maiden session of Premier Hobby Collective’s (PHC’s) homebrew Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) campaign. The party set out to answer the call of the settlement, Knight’s Ridge. The young village is struggling to grow with few resources, fewer skilled people, and an army of creatures that hunt them in the night. It needs help training its people, developing its facilities, defeating its enemies, and finding nearby treasures.

Illius Human Wizard |
The party made its way to Knight’s Ridge through the forest. The Grug and Thaldar kept the wizards safe, while Chanyu and Primis scouted ahead. Meanwhile, Illius scried his crystal ball, and Labby scouted through his familiar’s eyes.
They happened on a horse carcass, dragged off the road by its bridle. Its pack, curiously had not been looted, and held an empty tube, as well as an exquisite bone pipe. As they studied the surroundings, Grug befriended a squirrel (thanks to a natural 20 on an animal handling check). A loud voice came from the trees. The hidden bandit demanded their valuables. Unbeknownst to him, Chanyu and Primis’s keen eyes had already carved him out. They pointed alerted their friends, and in true orc fashion, Grug began negotiations with a battle cry, rushing forward and throwing an axe.
Hidden assailants peppered the group with arrows, piercing Grug and Thaldar’s chests with their shafts. But in shooting the party, they soon lost their cover. The combat was over in short order with Labby roasting bandits’ heads with fire bolts, the orcs splitting skulls and cutting down fleeing enemies, and Primis and Chanyu raining arrows on them.
The party organised the corpses, and noted their town-guard style armour. The leader had a dilapidated but well loved officer’s badge. He also had letters that told a story of an eager cadet falling from grace, and into eventual banditry. But the main prize was a letter, perfectly fitted for the empty tube, from the desk of one [name] Stoor. Our adventurers recognised the family name as belonging to a wealthy dynasty of treasure hunters. The letter told of treasure in the nearby mountain ranges (right?). As darkness began to fall, and Illius’s scrying showed troubling images of malevolent eyes in the night, the party made their way towards Knight’s Ridge.
They happened upon the village and saw it was in dire straits. The town was guarded by children, no older than fourteen. They approached one, who was suspicious and taut. He broke into relief when hearing the party was there to help, and took them to the town’s leader Tolmund. Tolmund, a hearty man, took the party in and along with his wife, Breanna(?) explained that the village was in bad shape. They needed supplies, training, and manpower. They became furtive when discussing Stoor missing in the forest, and grudgingly admitted something evil roamed the night, kidnapping young girls. During the explanation, Chanyu noticed a torch go out among the guards. The party rushed forward, and saved a young guard from a beastman. They took it prisoner, and with the help of a local elven mage, interrogated it. It did not have much useful to say, other than, “we are the children of the horned one. Our leader is coming.”
During the interrogation, a pack of the beastman assaulted the village, and the party took up position. A horned leader stepped forth, challenging Thaldar to single combat, while its minions hunted the hovels for hostages. Thaldar charged the leader, meeting sword to axe in sprays of blood and braying spittle, while Chanyu and Primis picked off beastmen at the flanks. Grug entered a rage, shrugging off club hits and dismembering goatmen in return. Illius and Labillan shot their unerring magic missiles (in the form of incandescent lights and drilling vines) into beastmen running off with victims. Chanyu dove down from a roof, tackling an enemy about to blow a rallying horn, and killed it in the mud.
Finally, Thaldar, bloodied and likely concussed, felled the leader in a fountain of gore. A cheer went up for the new heroes. But something was watching them.
The session ended with each player excitedly discussing the game they’d played, and speculating about the mysteries at hand. The game master, Rhys, had masterfully crafted a cinematic and engaging experience that gave every player a chance to shine, and made them demand to know when the next session would be.
