When submitting cards to PSA for grading, each service level has a ‘Final Graded Value,’ which represents the maximum allowable value of your card once graded. PSA determines this value by referencing various sales data for the same card in the same grade. If your card's value exceeds this limit after grading, PSA will apply a ‘value charge,’ commonly known as an upcharge.

An upcharge is the difference between the cost of the service tier you selected and the cost of the appropriate service tier based on the card’s final graded value. As a PSA dealer, we can offer discounted grading rates, but these discounts do not apply to upcharges.

For example, if you submit a card using the ‘TCG Bulk’ service and its graded value exceeds $200 USD but remains under $500 USD , it will be moved to the ‘Value’ tier. And PSA will charge us the difference as upcharge fees, and we will have to upcharge the customer as well.

When selecting a service tier for your cards, it’s important to remember that the ‘final graded value’ also serves as the card’s ‘maximum insurance value.’ In the event of loss or damage, your card will be insured for either the disclosed market value at the time of submission or the maximum value cap for the selected tier, whichever is lower.
